Fun Ahead: Posted Just Before Midnight
A current weather advisory for Cook County, among many other places:
A MIXTURE OF SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL DEVELOP BETWEEN 2 AM AND 4 AM TUESDAY MORNING. THIS MIXTURE WILL QUICKLY BECOME ALL FREEZING RAIN BY SUNRISE...WITH A PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN EXPECTED BETWEEN 7 AM AND 11 AM. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE TO TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE DURING THIS TIME. THE FREEZING RAIN IS THEN EXPECTED TO BECOME RAIN BY LATE TUESDAY MORNING OR EARLY TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS SURFACE TEMPERATURES RISE TO NEAR OR JUST ABOVE FREEZING.
A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REMINDS PERSONS WITH PORTABLE HEATERS OR GENERATORS TO MAINTAIN PROPER VENTILATION WHEN USING THEM.
If I were writing those warnings, I would add "or you might die!" after the second and third paragraphs.
